Afternoon Tea with Flowers.
This Saturday I was in a good relaxing mood. I spent some quality time at the hairdresser, had nice light lunch with my son in famous flower garden at Stanford shopping mall, tried new outfit at home, was perfectly satisfied, and was getting ready for a small party at my cousin's place. We were about to meet some special people, whom we did not see for years.
As you can see, I had excellent excuse to bring some of my flowers to the table. And since I am always on the outlook for small flower containers just in case, I happened to have 2 white porcelain cups with saucers, that I thought would look beautiful on the table among dinner china and festive Russian food. With that in mind, I went to the garden to look for flowers.
Geraniums looked great: very deep burgundy color, smooth velvety texture, bright and dressy. I thought they will be just right for a snowy white cup. Few small roses were still blooming on my rose tree and had very gentle touch of peach and cream. They looked great in contrast with rich geraniums color. I also have ground cover, that is blooming like crazy with little cream flowers, that look absolutely nothing by themselves, but made a wonderful impact in this bouquet. Few green and burgundy leaves to compliment the flowers, and here it is: little beauty in a white cup. The 2nd bouquet (3rd photo below) has a different feeling. When I look at gentle pink, blue and white flowers in a porcelain, I think of famous painting "Girl with peaches" by Russian artist Serov. This painting is one of my favorites. Reminds me of childhood and brings light and happy memories. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Serov_devochka_s_persikami.jpg Unfortunately every time I compare photo of my flowers with the real thing, it is a bitter disappointment. Any help or tips in that area are very welcome.
